WHAT IS LIPOSUCTION
Liposuction is a procedure used to remove excess body fat. The procedure usually removes fat from the hips, thighs, arms, flanks, tummy, areas around the knee and male breasts where it most commonly accumulates.
Liposuction is most suitable for people who are already a healthy weight, but have stubborn fat deposits that normal exercise just won’t shift. If a patient gained weight after liposuction, new fat would be deposited equally in all areas of the body. This minimally invasive treatment uses small tubes known as cannualas with suction to remove excess fat. Only fat cells are targeted, which means that surrounding, healthy tissue is left undamaged.
This procedure can also be safely used in combination with other cosmetic interventions such as: a tummy tuck, arm and tight lift, breast reduction, augmentation or a facelift.
About Surgery. You will get general anesthesia and procedure may take up to one - three hours, depending on your case. Liposuction is a cosmetic procedure that removes fat that you can’t seem to get rid of through diet and exercise.
A plastic surgeon usually does the procedure on your hips, belly, thighs, buttocks, back, arms, or face to improve theirshape. For this procedure we use a thin tube, called a cannula, connected to a vacuum to suction the fat from your body. These Cannulas can be different in shape and size. Normally they are connected to a powerful suction pump which generates a negative pressure. Fat is suctioned through tiny incisions approximately 0,5 cm in length, which are placed in less visible areas of the body areas that are normally closed by underwear.
Post Surgery. Bruising and swelling usually disappears within 2 – 3 weeks. A special compression garment should be worn for 6–8 weeks, which prevents fluid accumulation and helps tighten the skin. After the surgery, lymphatic drainage massage on an individual basis is recommended to achieve the best outcome. Strenuous physical activities should be avoided for 1–2 weeks. Most patients can resume their routine exercising and sports after 2 weeks following the surgery. The surgical sites will be barely noticeable as fat is suctioned through tiny incisions approximately 0,5 cm in length. The final results of body contouring will be evident after 2 – 3 months following the surgery.
