LOWER EYELID PLASTY
(Blepharoplasty)

Eyelid surgery can correct functional and aesthetic issues found in your upper or lower eyelids. The procedure can correct drooping lids, remove excess skin and wrinkles, reduce puffiness by eliminating fat deposits, and improve obstructed vision caused by loose or sagging skin around the eye.

About Surgery. The procedure is approximately 1-2 hours in duration. Lower eyelids usually the incision is concealed just below the lower lashes. Through this incision, excess skin and fat is removed. Your surgeon may also make special adjustments. For example, the fat beneath the eye can be redistributed to eliminate puffiness or bulges. In some patients, the underlying muscle will be tightened or fat will be removed inside the eyelid without a skin incision.

Post Surgery. Following the surgery, due to swelling, some patients may experience difficulties closing their eyes, which may cause dry eye syndrome. Artificial tears or lubricating ointment relieve this complication. Temporarily impaired vision can persist up to a few days. The stitches are removed at the 5-7 day after the surgery. After 2 weeks, the scars become barely visible. The bruising usually disappears within several weeks, while the swelling can persist longer. Discomfort is usually minimal, however pain medication prescribed by your surgeon will help to relieve the discomfort. The patient can return to work within a one week. The final result of the surgery is seen after 2 – 3 months when swelling completely subsides and surgical scars mature.

BROWLIFT AND EYELID SURGERY

A brow lift and an eyelid surgery can provide a more cheerful, alert appearance by reducing frown lines between the eyebrows, smoothing the forehead and elevating sagging brows. The procedure can correct drooping lids, remove excess skin and wrinkles, reduce puffiness by eliminating fat deposits, and improve obstructed vision caused by loose or sagging skin around the eye.

About Surgery. The surgery is made under general anesthesia and it takes around 1–2 hours to complete. Very often the brow lift correction is performed in conjunction with the facelift or eyelid corrections. During the surgery, incisions are made behind the line of the head hair or in front of it. This incision is invisible after healing because hair hides the scar. The surgeon removes or corrects part of the muscles, which leads to the formation of wrinkles, and also removes excess skin and lifts the eyebrows. When the fascia and skin are lifted, it is attached to the bone.

 

Upper eyelids: Typically, the incision begins within the natural crease of the eye’s inside corner and extends slightly beyond the outside corner into the crow’s feet or laugh lines. Through this incision, excess skin and fatty tissue are removed.

 

Lower eyelids usually the incision is concealed just below the lower lashes. Through this incision, excess skin and fat is removed. Your surgeon may also make special adjustments. For example, the fat beneath the eye can be redistributed to eliminate puffiness or bulges. In some patients, the underlying muscle will be tightened or fat will be removed inside the eyelid without a skin incision. 

 

Post Surgery. After the surgery patients should stay at the clinic for 1 day. After the surgery, you will feel swelling. Therefore, it is very important to apply regularly ice packs to the affected region. It will be better after fourth day. Swelling and bruising usually remain up to 3–4 weeks. We will remove stitches after 7-12 day after the surgery. Head dressing will be wrapped around your head to help control swelling and you will need to wear it 1-2 weeks. You can feel discomfort which will be usually minimal, however pain medication we will give you to help to relieve the discomfort. The patient can return to work after one week. The final result of the surgery is seen after 3 – 6 months when swelling completely stops and surgical scars mature.
